Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana (SSY) is a government savings scheme designed for the girl child. It offers high interest rates (currently 8.2% p.a.) with complete tax exemption under Section 80C. The scheme has a 21-year maturity period with deposits required for the first 14 years.
